What we handle
Genesis service in Mays Landing, NJ
Eight bays, foreign and domestic, with scan tools that read the Hyundai/Kia/Genesis protocol family. We cover the routine work that does not need the dealer and refer the factory work that does.

Oil and filter, brake fluid flush, spark plug replacement, automatic transmission fluid, cabin and engine air filters, all at the Genesis factory intervals.
Common examples: 7,500 mi oil interval, 30,000 mi brake fluid, 60,000 mi 8AT fluid, 100,000 mi spark plugs
Brakes, tires, and suspension
Brake pad and rotor service, tire rotation and replacement, balancing, TPMS, and suspension diagnostics on every Genesis platform.
Common examples: Suspension diagnostics, Brake pads and rotors, Tire rotation and balance, TPMS service
AC, electrical, and drivability
AC service and recharge, electrical and infotainment diagnostics, check-engine and drivability work with Hyundai/Kia/Genesis protocol on the scan tool.
Common examples: AC service, Genesis protocol scan, Electrical diagnostics, Drivability
Referred to the Genesis dealer
Factory software updates and module reflashes, active warranty service, recall service, complimentary scheduled maintenance program items, E-GMP high-voltage battery service, motor and inverter work, and Smart Sense ADAS camera and radar calibration go to the Genesis dealer network. We help coordinate the handoff if useful.
Common examples: Warranty service, Software updates, E-GMP HV battery, Smart Sense calibration
If you have a G70 that needs the 60,000-mile transmission service, a GV80 with a brake squeal, an Electrified GV70 that needs tires, or a G90 outside the complimentary window that needs an oil change, we have done that work in this shop.
Signs your Genesis needs service
Most Genesis owners only call a non-dealer shop when something on the dash, under the hood, or under the car has changed, or when the complimentary scheduled maintenance window has ended. Here are the symptoms we see most often, and what each one usually means before we put the car on the lift.
Service-interval light on the dash
Most common entry visit, especially right after the 3-year / 36,000-mile complimentary window closes. The scan tool reads which interval triggered the light: oil, brake fluid, cabin filter, or the general service reminder.
Smart Sense ADAS warning after windshield work
Genesis Smart Sense cameras and radar mount behind the windshield and in the front fascia. After a windshield replacement or front-bumper repair, the system needs a factory calibration. We flag the need; the calibration itself goes to the dealer.
Brake squeal or pulsation through the pedal
Pad wear indicator, glazed rotors, or rotor warp from heat cycling. Genesis brake setups on the G80 and GV80 are heavier than the Hyundai equivalents; OEM-grade replacement parts preserve the brake feel.
AC blowing warm or cycling oddly
Refrigerant low, compressor clutch failing, or the cabin filter is fully blocked. EPA Section 609 certification covers the recharge.
Check engine light with or without a drivability change
OBD-II scan reads the generic code; the Hyundai/Kia/Genesis protocol layer reads the freeze-frame data that tells the actual story. Saves the dealer-level look-at fee, especially common on older G70 3.3T cars with timing-chain related faults.
Infotainment glitch, touchscreen lag, or Apple CarPlay disconnects
Older G80 and G90 cars have documented infotainment quirks. Some are a soft reset, some are a software update that has to come from the dealer. The scan tool isolates which side of that line the symptom falls on before parts get thrown at it.
Coolant drip from the turbo coolant lines
Common on early G70 3.3T cars. The turbo coolant lines corrode at the fittings over time. We replace the lines with OEM-spec parts and pressure-test the cooling system before sign-off.
Harsh or hunting 8AT shifts on early G70
The Hyundai 8AT had documented shift-quality issues in the early G70 production. Fluid service at the 60,000-mile interval helps, but a true repair sometimes needs a TCM update that has to come from the dealer. We diagnose first and refer if the fix is software-side.
Two or more at once, do not wait. Most Genesis problems are easier and cheaper to address when caught early, especially after the complimentary maintenance window has closed.
Genesis service for Mays Landing and Atlantic County owners
Same family, same eight bays, same corner of Mays Landing since 1981. We serve Hamilton Township, Egg Harbor Township, Northfield, Somers Point, Folsom, Buena Vista, and the rest of Atlantic County. Most Genesis owners we see drive in from those towns plus the casinos, the shore towns, Vineland, Millville, and as far as Cape May Court House.
The nearest Genesis dealer is roughly 30 to 40 minutes each way, typically in the Cherry Hill area. The Genesis dealer network is smaller than the Hyundai or Toyota footprint, so the drive plus the scheduling delay adds up fast. For routine work after the complimentary window closes, an independent shop in town is the natural fit. The dealer keeps the work that needs the dealer: warranty service, recalls, factory software, Smart Sense calibration, and E-GMP high-voltage battery service.
Helpful details to mention
- Vehicle year, model, and trim (G70 3.3T Sport, GV80 2.5T, Electrified GV70, etc.)

02 of 06, Smartstream 2.5T
Smartstream 2.5T, 3.5L twin-turbo V6, and the legacy 3.3T
Genesis launched with newer Smartstream and twin-turbo engines, which kept it largely clear of the Theta II 2.0T class-action problems that hit older Hyundai and Kia owners. The current engine lineup runs the 2.5T Smartstream (Theta III generation, G70 base and GV70), the 3.5L twin-turbo Smartstream V6 (G80, G90, GV80), and the legacy 3.3T Lambda twin-turbo V6 (early G70 Sport, older G80 and GV80).

2.5T Smartstream
Current Theta-generation Smartstream four-cylinder. Direct injection plus port injection on the latest revision keeps the intake-valve carbon problems older direct-injection engines suffered from. Spark plug replacement at 100,000 miles, oil at 7,500-mile intervals on 0W-20 or 0W-30 per spec.
3.5L twin-turbo V6 Smartstream
Current flagship engine on the G80, G90, and GV80. Replaced the older 5.0L Tau V8 across the lineup. Spark plugs at 100,000 miles, careful attention to oil quality and turbo cool-down on aggressive driving.
3.3T Lambda twin-turbo V6 (legacy)
Earlier G70 Sport, older G80, older GV80. Timing-chain related complaints surfaced on early cars; we pressure-test the cooling system and inspect the timing-chain area as part of any check engine light or noise diagnosis. Turbo coolant line corrosion at the fittings is a recurring item we replace with OEM-spec parts.
Hyundai 8AT transmission
Shared with Hyundai and Kia. Fluid service at the 60,000-mile interval keeps the shift quality clean. Early G70 cars had documented harsh-shift or hunting behavior; some of that is fluid related and resolvable here, some needs a TCM update that has to come from the dealer.
Tell us what changed, when it started, and what you drive. We can help decide whether to start with an inspection, alignment check, or related repair.
03 of 06, The Electrified
The Electrified line and GV60: what we cover, what stays with the dealer
The Electrified G80, Electrified GV70, and GV60 run on the Hyundai Motor Group E-GMP 800V platform. There is no Genesis hybrid in the current lineup; the Electrified models are full EVs. The scope-shield is clear: we service the items every car has; the dealer keeps the items only an EV has.

What stays at Kneble's
Tires, brakes, suspension, cabin AC, cabin electronics, infotainment, 12V auxiliary battery (the standard battery every EV has), wiper blades, and cabin filter. EV brake pads typically last longer than ICE brake pads because of regenerative braking; we still inspect and service them on the same schedule.
What goes to the Genesis dealer
High-voltage battery pack, HV motor windings, inverter, DC fast-charge interface, battery cooling loop, and any HV component that requires de-energizing the pack. Early E-GMP cars also received over-the-air and dealer-pushed updates to the charging-system software; those go to the dealer.
04 of 06, Genesis Smart
Genesis Smart Sense ADAS calibration
Genesis Smart Sense bundles forward collision avoidance, blind spot collision avoidance, lane keeping assist, smart cruise, and parking collision avoidance. The cameras mount behind the windshield, the radar sits in the front fascia, and the side sensors live in the rear quarter panels. After any work that disturbs those locations, the system needs a factory calibration.

When calibration is required
After a windshield replacement, after a front-bumper repair or replacement, after a significant alignment change, and after certain suspension repairs that change the vehicle ride height. We flag the requirement during the visit; the calibration itself uses Genesis-specific targets and goes to the dealer.
Why we will not improvise the calibration
Aftermarket calibration kits exist, but Smart Sense uses Genesis-specific reference targets and procedures. A miscalibrated ADAS system that flags false positives, or worse, fails to flag a real obstacle, is a safety problem that the dealer is the right place to solve.
Tell us the year, make, model, and what you are noticing, and we will say what to check first.
05 of 06, How the
How the Genesis complimentary maintenance program affects the dealer-vs-independent decision
Genesis includes 3 years or 36,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance with every new vehicle, plus valet pickup and drop-off in many markets. That is a genuinely strong program and the natural answer to the question of where to take a brand-new Genesis for routine service.

While the complimentary window is open
Use the dealer for the included scheduled maintenance. Paying us for an oil change that the dealer would have done for free does not make sense, and we will tell you that on the phone before you drive over. If you need a non-included item (tires, brakes outside the dealer's offer, body work, accident-related work), we are still the right call.
After the window closes
Year 4 forward is where the independent-shop math turns favorable. Dealer hourly labor at luxury rates against a routine oil-and-filter or brake job creates the widest dealer-vs-independent spread we see. The active 5-year / 60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty still applies; we keep records that match the format Genesis expects so the warranty stays intact.
06 of 06, How we
How we protect your Genesis warranty
The federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act protects owners using independent shops for routine service: a manufacturer cannot void your warranty because an independent shop did your oil change or brake job. We document every Genesis service per Genesis standards and refer warranty-eligible items back to the dealer so coverage stays intact.
Read more about How we protect your Genesis warranty
What we keep on file for you
Printed and digital service records that match the format Genesis expects. Parts receipts when we use aftermarket-spec parts. If the dealer ever pushes back on a warranty claim, those documents are how Magnuson-Moss protections actually work in practice.
What we will not touch
Anything warranty-eligible during the 10-year / 100,000-mile powertrain or 5-year / 60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper window. We tell you directly which items are dealer-only and route you there. That is the deal. Independent shops that promise warranty work either are not telling the truth about what the manufacturer will honor or are billing for work the dealer would have done for free.
Call the shop or request an appointment and include the vehicle year, make, model, mileage, and symptoms.
FAQs
Genesis service FAQs
If Genesis shares engines and transmissions with Hyundai, can I just take it to a Hyundai shop?
Practically, yes, for the mechanical side. The 2.5T Smartstream, the 3.5L twin-turbo V6, the Hyundai 8AT, and the E-GMP platform all originated at the Hyundai Motor Group level, and a competent Hyundai or Kia independent shop has the scan tool, the procedures, and the parts catalog to service them. The Genesis-specific items (Smart Sense calibration, the complimentary maintenance program, active warranty work) go to the Genesis dealer regardless.
How does the 3-year / 36,000-mile complimentary maintenance program actually work?
Genesis includes scheduled maintenance (oil and filter, tire rotation, multi-point inspection, and brake inspection) at the factory intervals through 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Pickup and drop-off is included in many markets. Use the dealer for those included visits. After the window closes, the dealer rate for the same routine work jumps significantly; that is when the independent-shop math turns favorable.
I am buying a used G70 3.3T. What should I know before the deal closes?
Get a pre-purchase inspection. Specific items we check on the 3.3T Lambda V6: turbo coolant line condition (corrosion at the fittings is recurring), timing-chain noise on cold start, 8AT shift quality through the gears at varied throttle, and the infotainment for soft-reset behavior versus a documented update need. Older G70 Sport cars are excellent values, but only with the inspection done first.
My Electrified GV70 keeps prompting a charging-system update. Can you handle that?
No. E-GMP charging-system software updates come from the Genesis dealer or arrive over-the-air on later vehicles. We do not push factory software updates because doing so without manufacturer permissions either voids warranty or uses third-party tools we will not use. The dealer is the right call for any HV battery, charging, or motor-side software item.
I just replaced my G80 windshield. The Smart Sense warning light is on. Can you calibrate it?
No, that is a Genesis dealer item. Smart Sense uses Genesis-specific reference targets and a factory calibration procedure. A miscalibrated ADAS system that misses a real obstacle is a safety problem, and we will not improvise it with aftermarket tooling. We will document the calibration requirement and help you coordinate with the dealer.
How does Magnuson-Moss actually work if a Genesis dealer pushes back on a warranty claim?
The dealer must show that the independent shop's work or part caused the warranty-claimed failure. Saying you went to an independent is not enough. Keep every service record we hand you, keep the parts receipts, and bring those to the dealer if needed. Federal law protects you when the documentation is in order, and the Genesis 10-year / 100,000-mile powertrain warranty is one of the most generous in the segment.
My early G70 3.3T is leaking coolant near the turbo. Is that the recall, or is it the line corrosion?
Most often, it is the turbo coolant lines corroding at the fittings, which is a non-warranty repair on most cars by now. We diagnose the source on the lift, replace the lines with OEM-spec parts, pressure-test the cooling system, and refill to spec. If the visible damage extends to a covered component or there is an active recall in your VIN, we route you to the dealer instead.
Where do most South Jersey Genesis owners drive in from?
Most appointments come from the Mays Landing, Hamilton Township, and Egg Harbor Township triangle plus the Atlantic City Expressway feeder towns. Owners regularly drive in from Vineland and Millville to the west, Cape May Court House and Wildwood to the south, and Galloway and Absecon to the north. The Genesis dealer footprint in South Jersey is thin, so the drive-in radius is wider than for the German luxury makes.
