As we get excited that summer is inching its way towards us, especially with the beautiful spring weather, lookout, because you could be heading into some car care problems.

Before planning all your trips to the shore this summer include your trip to the auto technician to have your vehicle inspected.

Hi, I’m Nancy at Kneble’s Auto Service Center.

Car problems happen.

These specific problems tend to happen more often as the temperature rises and the weather changes. It is better to address these problems before they tank your future fun plans.

But before I do, let’s do the common courtesy of liking us on Facebook, follow us on Instagram, and subscribing to our YouTube channel.

After all, you want to make sure you watch these weekly tips that will help your vehicle and save you money in the long run.

It’s prevalent for your engine to overheat in the summer months.

As the temperatures go up, it can strain your engine. Some causes of overheating could be low coolant, a faulty thermostat, damaged hoses, a faulty radiator, or possibly a broken water pump.

If you notice your temperature gauge moving too hot, pull over to a safe location and have your vehicle towed.

Another issue during the hot days of summer could be tire damage. With the increase in ambient temperature, your tire pressures fluctuate. Hot temperatures can cause your tire pressure to increase and as the temperature drops at night, you got it.

Your tire pressure decreases. Driving on improperly inflated tires can do uneven wear or compromise the tire’s integrity causing a blowout. Make sure you monitor your tire pressures.

Check out my video on tire pressure light. It is a way to learn where to find your proper tire pressure.

Fluid levels are something to monitor. Your vehicle has many different fluids, such as transmission fluid, oil, steering fluid, and brake fluid.

Once again, check out my video on understanding the various fluids your vehicle requires. It is essential to have the proper fluid level to keep your car healthy.

Have you been hitting all those potholes created this past winter and exacerbated by the heat?

Driving over these potholes can do minor to significant damage to your shocks and struts and the overall suspension.

At the minimum, you may need a proper wheel alignment to get you straightened up.

Another strain from the hot summer months which can affect your vehicle is the battery. You want to ensure your battery won’t let you down.

So I recommend having your battery tested to determine if a replacement is needed. Another video to check out is shocking knowledge of car batteries.

We at Kneble’s Auto will test your battery free of charge.

I have talked many times about your air conditioning in prior videos. Does your air conditioning use more fuel?

Driving in a vehicle with your air conditioning not working correctly is never fun.

We here at Kneble’s Auto offer free AC check.

I recommend having your air conditioning checked before the hot days cause you to sweat in your vehicle.

AC not functioning properly may be from low Freon or electrical problem with your air conditioner.

Always check your wiper blades every season. Wiper blades are made of rubber and they can fray and crack over time. Snow does havoc on our wiper blades.

So it’s recommended actually to have them replaced every six months.

Finally, check out my video on using windshield wipers to see your windshield.
