Police officers all over New Jersey are stepping up patrol and ticketing drivers. This is due to an initiative seeing as April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. Avoid fines up to $600 and 3 points with these 5 reasons you’ll get pulled over.

Nancy: Look out drivers in New Jersey, especially this month of April. The law enforcement is cracking down on distracted drivers in April as part of National Distracted Driving Month. We want to inform you and possibly prevent you from getting a, Grant, from getting a ticket. Like I know some of our customers have already have. Nancy: Do you know Grant, four states with New Jersey as one of them receive grant money to crack down on violators? According to New Jersey Motor Vehicles, over 80,000 motor vehicle crashes occurred between 2011 and 2015 from drivers not being attentive to the road. Texting Grant, texting Grant has been banned while driving, but that list grows longer.
Grant: But Mom.
Nancy: Sh, talking to your passengers while driving, that’s banned. Grant, grooming yourself, that’s not allowed either while driving.
Grant: Read a book.
Nancy: Oh Grant, you know that of course is banned. You cannot do that while driving.
Grant: Okay, how are we going to get to the restaurant later? I’ll put into the GPS.
Nancy: No, that’s banned also. No. Using your GPS while driving.
Grant: I got the tunes, we’ll put it on. I got the-
Nancy: No, Grant. You can’t do that either. You must stay focused, because otherwise, Grant, what are you going to hear?
Grant: It’s the sound of the police.
Nancy: That’s right, ’cause Grant, the first offender can get up to $400 fine. The second time, Grant, could be up to $600. And the third time, Grant, you could be $800 with three points for a moving violation and possibly lose your license. Oh Grant, I don’t want to have to drive you around.
Grant: Don’t worry, I got you.
