Learn how the US federal government is providing $5 Billion to help states build electric vehicle charging stations across our highways.

This has been many people’s concern because very inconvenient and potentially dangerous if you’re stuck on the side of the road.

Remember how I discussed the potential kill switch in the infrastructure bill?

President Biden has signed into law funding for EV charging stations in the amount of $15 billion.
This equates to approximately 500,000 charging stations nationwide by 2030.
The plan is set over five years, which each state receiving funding on the need of the state and the plans that they submit.
The federal government is directing states to have stations located every 50 miles along the interstate highways.
Grant programs are also available to facilitate this program.
The following highways that are currently in the plan for EV charging stations include I-78, I-80, I-95, I-287, and I-295.
New Jersey is estimated to receive about $104 million over five years, starting with the first allocation of $15 million.
In New Jersey, well, we currently have registered 50,000 electrical vehicles. Governor Murphy hopes to have that number to be over 300,000 registered electrical vehicles by 2025.
For those 50,000 electrical vehicles, there currently have 670 electrical charging stations available statewide.
Now, there are some unknown details such as how people will pay for the charging.
Currently, there are different charging networks for different vehicles.
Change is upon us, and we look forward to a less polluted environment giving us a better environment.
