Are you thinking of buying a used vehicle?
Hi, I’m Nancy at Kneble’s Auto Service Center. First, check out my last video on purchasing any vehicle. I talk about making sure you drive the vehicle. Is it comfortable?
Here are some additional tips since buying a used vehicle can be harder. You know you should look under the hood or even under the car, but you say to yourself, “What am I looking for?” Well, when you open the hood, check to see if the belts and hoses don’t appear dry rotted or cracked. Check the color of the fluids such as your transmission fluid. It shouldn’t be brown and that oil shouldn’t be dirty. Look for any other possible signs of a fluid leak.
Now for the hard part, you need to get under the car because under the car can show signs of rust on your brake line or fuel lines or possibly even signs the vehicle has been in an accident.
Make sure the maintenance history is up to date, that the vehicle recommendation services were done, that the oil changes were done. I’m also recommending you check the paint condition. Is there a slight change of color may be in the side panel or the door? That could be a sign the car was in an accident and had a paint job done.
Lastly, check the Carfax, but realize not everything on that is on the Carfax because if that car was in an accident and it wasn’t reported to the insurance company, it may not appear on the Carfax.
Now I know some of these things are very hard to detect to the untrained eye, that is why I suggest you call me, your car care specialist because I can put that vehicle up on a lift and easily get underneath the car and check things out. And I will do this free of service, so make sure before signing on the dotted line and handing over the money, that you call me, schedule the appointment. Let’s check over the vehicle for you.
Thank you for watching and check out our other videos. Now if you like what I had to say, give it a thumbs up and share.
