Does your car rattle when you are driving down the street? It may be more simple than you realize! Nancy explains more!

Do you hear a rattle noise under your vehicle? Is it annoying you? If I said it could be a heat shield, would you say to me, “What’s a heat shield and why is it making noise?” Hi, I’m Nancy at Kneble’s Auto Service Center.
Metal in the shape of a shield wraps around the exhaust manifold and is designed to prevent the heat from the exhaust to go upwards to the floor of the vehicle. Also, there are bottom heat shields. They’re designed to prevent that 600-degree exhaust system from potentially causing a fire if you park on dry, high grass.
Heat shields are made up of one or more layers of metal. They generally last a lifetime, but they become loose and they can drop on the exhaust causing that rattle-y noise. So if you hear a rattle, take your vehicle to your car care specialist.
Have them put it up on the lift and check the condition of your exhaust and heat shield. Stop that rattle today, enjoy that ride. Share the video and let your friends know what could potentially be causing their rattle-y noise.
