German engineering is known for precision and that is what you get when you own a Volkswagen. These vehicles are some of the most reliable on the road, and thankfully they are equipped with diagnostic systems to alert drivers when something is malfunctioning.
These diagnostic systems oversee nearly every aspect of the vehicle’s operation including fuel delivery, exhaust emission levels, anti-lock braking systems, airbag systems, transmission operation, and much more.
The diagnostic systems in your Volkswagen utilize sensors to monitor the various systems that they control and send feedback to the control module (computer) responsible for the management of these systems. These sensors (and control modules) can fail as well as the wiring systems that connect them, causing a system malfunction, which can adversely impact the performance of your vehicle. In most cases, a sensor failure will produce a trouble code and turn on a “check engine” light on the dashboard to let the driver know that the vehicle needs to be brought in for service. Trouble codes allow our technicians to pinpoint problems and aid in the diagnostic process, allowing us to get your Volkswagen back on the road as soon as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions About Volkswagen Diagnostic Service:
Yes, we can use genuine VW parts where desired or required. When your service advisor provides your estimate, you can discuss this with him or her.
When the “check engine” light is lit this is a sign that you need to bring your VW in to have one of our technicians perform a diagnostic test. In many cases it will be safe to drive, however, in some cases, the car’s condition could worsen leading to the inability for it to run.
In the perfect world, any system malfunction would be detected by a faulty sensor reading, which would cause the check engine light to come on. In some cases, mechanical or electrical failure can occur without warning.
