Don’t think you’re the only one who doesn’t know what a fob is. Hi, I’m Nancy at Kneble’s Auto Service Center. Simply put, fob stands for frequency operated button. Your key fob is a unit that sends out a specific code to your vehicle to perform a function such as unlock or lock doors, possibly open windows if your fob has that function on it.
Your key fob is programmed to your vehicle, so don’t think you can unlock other vehicles in the parking lot, or that someone could possibly open your vehicle with their key fob. Next time you find your key fob not operating, a simple fix may be just replacing the b that’s inside. Key fobs operate with batteries.
Thank you for watching.
